Is Y’all Proper English? No, But It Should Be

11 January 2019|

Is y'all proper English? Well technically, the answer is no. But objectively, there's nothing wrong with it. It's the perfect contraction of "you" and "all." And still no one has suggested a better pronoun to use while talking to two or more people. In my opinion, y'all should say y'all.

Spanish Lessons in Austin – Private or Group Lessons

In this post, we provide an overview of our Spanish lessons in Austin and offer you a free orientation for you and your staff.

WHY LEARN SPANISH?

The ethnic and culture diversity of Austin is one of its many strengths. Combined with beautiful weather and business-friendly conditions, Austin is the most attractive, fastest-growing city in the nation. The influx of people and major companies, moreover, doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Tech giants such as Apple, Google, Oracle and Samsung, which already had a significant presence in Austin, have recently announced plans to greatly expand their operations in the Texas capital.

This can only mean that the diversity of Austin will become even more diverse over the upcoming decades. Although the ethnicities and languages of new Austinites will surely come from around the world, the official second language of Austin won’t be changing anytime soon; Spanish.

Your importance of your ability to communicate in Spanish – both understanding it and speaking it – cannot be overstated. The advantages of Spanish fluency extend to all areas of your public life; social interaction, career opportunities and personal depth. There’s never been a better time to learn Spanish…and we’re eager to help you achieve that goal.

How to Learn a Language

In this post, we explain how to learn Spanish or any other language. Although occasional conversations in Spanish are great, they’re not enough for the serious learner.

HOW DO WE TEACH?

There’s nothing new or revolutionary about the way we teach Spanish. We simply use the time-tested methods which have proven effective for centuries. During our lessons, we present students with a balanced emphasis on grammatical instruction and conversational practice. Each conversation reinforces and builds upon words and concepts learned in previous lessons.

We pay careful attention to the learning styles of our students. Some students require a more analytical, structured approach. At the other end of the spectrum, some students prefer more dialogue and mini-conversations rather than rules and grammar. We successfully accommodate both of these types of students and everyone in between.

While our students learn the language, our teachers “learn the students.” We quickly learn what they know and what they don’t know. We then focus on the greatest needs of the student in order to produce quick results. Our goals never change; to increase the conversational skills of our students, to help them speak Spanish accurately and confidently.

WE GO TO YOU

Language learning already has its own set of challenges. Overcoming those challenges is where we want your efforts to be. So instead of forcing you to fight the Austin traffic to get to our location, we go instead to your location. This arrangement has been greatly successful at maintaining the attendance and enthusiasm of our students.

Our office is in north Austin near N. Lamar and Research Blvd. We occasionally form group classes there. But most of our classes – both group and private classes – are held at the offices and homes of our students.
